If you are a business leader, it’s important to harness your leadership abilities in developing a more effective workforce.

For many companies, a direct correlation between employee productivity and company profits exists. Though business owners, leaders and managers may get caught up in the cold, hard side of operations, it’s important to always remember your employees. The way employees feel about a company and how they are in the workplace can go a long way.

Leave your door open. This simple action signifies that you are open to communication with others. With a closed door, the leader is "cut off" from the rest of the office. By having an open door, employees have an easier to communicating.

Make meetings short, but positive. Always plan meetings ahead of time and make sure to make them short, but effective. Respect and value your employees’ time and they’ll respect and value their company.

Get to know your employees and have them get to know themselves. It may be a good idea to take some time out for psychological tests, such as the famous Myers-Briggs test or the Big Five. This can be a fun way to see what type of personalities are in your office and how you can better interact with these employees. This also gives you an idea of the group dynamics of the office and how you can maximize these personalities to create a more peaceful, yet productive work place.

Create a sense of organizational pride to help glue your employees to one another and the company. Always speak about your company in a positive tone. Discuss what your company has accomplished. Bring to light your company’s reputation on a regular basis.

Treat your employees well. You can order breakfast, lunch or have periodic company parties. Offer birthday gifts or cakes for employee birthdays.
